How to Use Purple Shampoo on Light-Colored Hair Extensions?

Recommended Frequency

Routine Maintenance: Once every 2–3 weeks
Noticeable Yellowing or Brassiness: Once every 1–2 weeks. Avoid using purple shampoo too frequently or in consecutive washes.

Step 1: Tone with Purple Shampoo

After washing your hair as usual, apply purple shampoo to tone unwanted yellow or brassy tones.
Wear disposable gloves to prevent staining your hands.
Dilute the shampoo using a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part purple shampoo.
If you have a foaming bottle:
Create a rich foam first, then apply it evenly throughout the hair.
If you don't have a foaming bottle:
Dispense 8–10 mL of purple shampoo (about the size of a U.S. quarter or 1–2 pumps), mix it with water in your palms at a 3:1 ratio, lather well, and apply evenly.

For your first use, leave it on for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Adjust the processing time based on the toning results in future applications.
Rinse thoroughly with 30–35°C (86–95°F) lukewarm water.

Tips:
Avoid applying undiluted purple shampoo directly to the hair.
A foaming bottle is recommended to distribute the product more evenly and reduce the risk of uneven color deposits.
The lighter the hair color or the higher the level of bleaching, the shorter the processing time and the lower the recommended frequency.
If some areas are more yellow than others, treat those sections first before working the remaining foam through the rest of the hair.

Step 2: Restore Moisture

Apply conditioner or a hair mask evenly from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the attachment points.
Leave it on for about 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
While the hair is still damp, gently detangle using a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and working upward.

Tips:
Purple shampoo is designed to tone color, not to moisturize the hair. Always follow with a conditioner or hair mask after each use.
Never pull on tangles. Work through them gently and patiently with a comb.

Step 3: Dry and Style

Gently squeeze out excess water. Do not rub the hair vigorously with a towel.
Air drying is recommended whenever possible. If blow-drying is necessary, use a low heat setting.
Make sure the hair is completely dry before styling or storing. If not wearing your extensions for an extended period, store them in a cool, dry place.
