The Dos and Don'ts of Elf Curly Tape-Ins Maintenance & Afterccare
Do:
- Schedule move-up appointments every 4-6 weeks to avoidadded weight and tension from your grown-out hair.
- For smooth and easy removals, fully saturate each Tape-In bpond weft with GOO GOO Remover and wait five seconds before gently removing theextension from the natural hair. Remove the weft in a downward motion toward the natural hair to avoid unnecessary tension on the hair, which can cause damage.
- Detangle Gently. Start from the ends and work upward to minimize tangling and breakage.
- Keep Curls Hydrated. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and moisturizing conditioner to maintain softness and curl definition.
- Refresh Your Curls. Lightly dampen the hair, apply curl-styling products, and scrunch upward to revive your natural curl pattern.
- Air Dry When Possible. Gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel or T-shirt. Use a diffuser on low heat if needed.
Don’t:
- Wash your hair after a fresh install. We recommend you wait 72 hours to allow the Tape-In bonds to fully adhere to the natural hair set properly.
- Pull or tug the weft out of the natural hair. If you are having trouble with removal, we recommend spraying more remover as needed.
- Remove the weft by pulling from left to right. You want to rennove each weft by pulling downward toward the natural hair for a swift and easyremoval.
- Use Harsh Products. Avoid drying formulas and heavy product buildup that can weigh down curls.
- Flat Iron Your Elf Curly Hair. Excessive heat can disrupt the curl pattern and reduce bounce.

How does the curl pattern affect the length of elf curly tape-ins?
Because all lengths are measured when straight, Elf Curly Tape-Ins may appear shorter once worn in their natural curly texture. The tighter the curls, the shorter and more voluminous they look.
As a general guide:
- 18" may appear around 16.5"
- 20" may appear around 18"
- 22"/24" may appear around 20"–22"
